Win a VIP wind farm tour hosted by Pacific Hydro
14 May 2013
Leading Australian renewable energy company Pacific Hydro is running a competition to take five lucky winners on a VIP wind farm tour as part of the celebrations of its 20 years of clean energy.
The VIP tour will leave Melbourne by helicopter on the morning of 15 June 2013, which coincides with Global Wind Day, and will travel to Challicum Hills wind farm in western Victoria for a personalised tour hosted by their Australian head of operations.
After the tour, winners will enjoy a decadent lunch and wine tasting at the award winning Mt Langi Ghiran winery before returning to Melbourne in the afternoon via helicopter. Pacific Hydro will be offsetting all flight carbon emissions.
The Challicum Hills wind farm is located on private farming land just east of Ararat, in the Ararat Rural City in western Victoria. It was Australia’s largest wind farm when completed in 2003 and generates enough clean electricity to supply approximately 26,000 Victorian homes each year.
“Challicum Hills wind farm has created significant employment, investment and tourism opportunities in Western Victoria since its development,” said Mr Lane Crockett, general manager of Pacific Hydro Australia.
In the wind farm’s 10 years of operation, it has abated over 1.5 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions and injected over $380,000 into 151 local social and environmentally sustainable projects through the Challicum Hills Sustainable Communities Fund.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to taste and experience some of the sights and delights on offer in one of the most spectacular areas in western Victoria,” said Ararat Rural City Mayor, Cr Ian Wilson.
“We are excited at the prospect of welcoming the competition winners to the Ararat Rural City to celebrate Pacific Hydro’s 20 years of clean energy as well as the 10 year anniversary of the Challicum Hills wind farm.”
The competition is open until 26 May and up to three entries can be lodged via Pacific Hydro Australia’s blog.
