VIP wind farm tour winners take off for an adventure in western Victoria
14 June 2013
Five lucky winners of Pacific Hydro’s VIP wind farm tour will take to the skies from a helipad in front of Crown Casino for a day of adventure in western Victoria on Saturday June 15.
“Pacific Hydro’s VIP wind farm tour is part of our celebrations to commemorate 20 years of clean energy, and ten years of successful operations of Challicum Hills wind farm,” said Pacific Hydro’s general manager for Australia, Mr Lane Crockett. “We wish all the winners a great day of adventure and fun.”
The VIP tour will leave Melbourne by helicopter on the morning of Saturday 15 June 2013, which coincides with Global Wind Day. The winners will travel to Challicum Hills wind farm in western Victoria for a personalised tour hosted by Pacific Hydro’s Australian head of operations before heading to local award winning winery, Mount Langi Ghiran, for a decadent lunch.
One of the VIP tour winners Gabrielle entered the competition because it included three of her favourite things – recreational flying, renewable energy, and wine. “I’ve driven past Challicum Hills [wind farm] a number of times, but we’re always in transit so it’s great to have the opportunity for a tour with an expert, and to learn more about Pacific Hydro and how they work with the local community,” Gabrielle said.
Another winner Fred said that while he had always avoided flying in helicopters, he was looking forward to learning more about wind farms and his family were coming down to see him off.
