Portland Sustainable Communities Fund application period closing soon
3 July 2013
With just over one week until the $90,000 Portland Sustainable Communities Fund closes on 16 July, Pacific Hydro is urging community groups not to leave their application to the last minute.
“Applications for the Portland Sustainable Communities Fund close on Tuesday 16 July”, said General Manager for Australia, Mr Lane Crockett. “To ensure applications are in on time, it’s a great idea to get started on them now.”
Community groups and organisations operating in Cape Nelson, Cape Bridgewater, Portland, Tyrendarra, Heywood and Gorae West are eligible to receive funding.
“If your group or organisation is working on socially or environmentally sustainable projects and needs funding, we encourage you to get your application in by 16 July and if you have any questions, our Community Fund Coordinator is available on the phone or via email to assist with any queries you may have,” said Mr Crockett.
While it is often not possible to fund all applications, grants will be assessed against the Fund guidelines and identified community priorities through a Fund Allocation Panel.
“For the first time this year a Fund Allocation Panel comprised of four community members, four Pacific Hydro staff and a Glenelg Shire Council representative will review the applications,” said Mr Crockett.
“The Fund Allocation Panel creates an opportunity to give even greater transparency to the short-listing process,” said Mr Crockett. “The inclusion of community members on the panel, who have volunteered their time to assist in assessing applications, is fantastic.”
The Fund will consider projects across the areas of sport, health, education, environment and the arts.
Community groups who have not applied for funding in previous years are encouraged to apply.
“If you are unsure if your project is eligible, or how to apply for funding, give us a call,” said Mr Crockett.
