Photographers encouraged to enter Global Wind Day Competition
17 April 2012
Pacific Hydro is encouraging photographers to show wind energy technology in a new way by entering a worldwide photography competition in the lead-up to Global Wind Day on 15 June.
Global Wind Day is the annual day promoting the power of the wind around the world and the theme for 2012 is ‘Wind in Mind.” To celebrate, a global photography competition has been organized with some fantastic prizes.
The six winners, who will receive a €1,000 Amazon voucher or one of five €250 vouchers, will be chosen by an expert jury and announced on Global Wind Day 15 June. All the winning pictures will be displayed outdoors in the EU area of Brussels.
The overall winning photo will also become part of an online professional photography collection, www.hardrainproject.com, and be published in renewable energy newspaper ‘Recharge’ and in the European wind energy industry magazine Wind Directions.
This competition is open to participants from any country but participants must be at least 18 years old at time of entry and submit their entries by 6 May 20:00 GMT (7 May, 06:00 our time).
If you would like further information, including the competition guidelines, please visit the Global Wind Day photography competition website at http://www.globalwindday.org/wind-in-mind.
Pacific Hydro Communications Manager Georgina Downey encouraged local photographers to develop an entry.
“I strongly encourage you to get involved in this wonderful challenge and showcase wind farms across Australia,” Ms Downey said.
“The deadline for entries is 6 May so now’s the time to start developing your ideas and get snapping,” she added.
While there are many great wind farm vantage points from public areas if you require access to one of Pacific Hydro’s local wind farms to take your photographs please contact Community Relations Coordinator Holly Marsh via email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
