VIP wind farm tour a success

18 June 2013

Last Saturday Pacific Hydro celebrated Global Wind Day by hosting the winners of our VIP wind farm tour competition at Challicum Hills.

Our five lucky winners took to the skies from a helipad in front of Crown Casino in Melbourne for a day of adventure in western Victoria, accompanied by Darren Sexton, Pacific Hydro’s Executive Manager for Operations in Australia.

Upon arrival at Challicum Hills, they were greeted by Cr Fay Hull, representing the Ararat Rural City, and Pacific Hydro staff before embarking on an informative tour of the wind farm.

After the tour, the winners flew to local award winning winery, Mount Langi Ghiran, for wine tasting and a decadent lunch. They had the opportunity to hear more from Ms Hull about what western Victoria has to offer and Pacific Hydro’s work with the local community through our Sustainable Communities Fund.

The winners had a great time and truly enjoyed themselves. Watch what they had to say in the video below.

This is the sort of proactive activity more wind energy developers need to engage in. Educating the public is essential to help combat the anti-wind energy, anti-renewables propaganda being spread by some sectors in the community. Well done PacificHydro
