Clements Gap Sustainable Communities Fund now open
Pacific Hydro's Clements Gap Sustainable Communities Fund opens
on 8 March 2010 and Pacific Hydro is encouraging local community
groups and organisations working in the area directly surrounding
the newly opened project to consider applying for funding.
Pacific Hydro's General Manager for Australia was enthusiastic
about the program which works with the local community to assist
with projects that encourage long-term sustainability.
"Local groups working in Clements Gap, Crystal Brook, Redhill,
Port Broughton and Mundoora areas are all eligible for funding
consideration and we hope they will consider submitting an
application for projects that meet the Fund criteria", said Mr
Crockett.
Pacific Hydro's Sustainable Communities Fund operates around the
company's operating projects, returning a portion of revenue from
the project back into local community projects. In 2009, the
Clements Gap Sustainable Communities Fund ensured 16 local
organisations received a share in around $50,000 of funding.
"We received a number of fantastic applications in 2009 which
saw some great community projects receive funding", said Mr
Crockett. "We hope any groups who missed out last time will
consider applying again."
Pacific Hydro reviews applications in consultation with local
funding authorities and community representatives to ensure local
priorities are identified in the short listing process.
Mr Crockett said that he knew many community groups are
implementing some fantastic local initiatives but often have
limited resources to get these projects completed.
"The Sustainable Communities Fund aims to support local
community groups and organisations who are working to make a
positive and lasting contribution to their community", said Mr
Crockett.
The Clements Gap Sustainable Communities Fund will run each year
for the operating life of the Clements Gap wind farm. Applications
are considered in the areas of health and safety, the environment,
education and training, sport and recreation, and arts and
culture.
Pacific Hydro will be accepting applications for the Clements
Gap Sustainable Communities Fund between 8 March and 19 April 2010.
Application forms and the Fund guidelines are available on Pacific
Hydro's website www.pacifichydro.com.au or by
calling Chloe Carpenter on 03 8621 6428.
