Codrington/Yambuk Sustainable Communities Fund recipients announced
Pacific Hydro's Sustainable Communities Fund has delivered a
funding boost of $50,000 to nine community groups working in the
Codrington and Yambuk area in a cheque presentation ceremony held
at the Victoria Hotel today. (25/11/2009)
Community groups from Port Fairy, Killarney, Koroit and Yambuk
all received funding with the largest amounts going to cultural
based activities that encourage community participation.
The groups receiving the largest individual grants include the
Port Fairy Men's Shed who received $10,000 to help implement their
shed, the Tarerer Gunditj Project Association who received $8200 to
help run the 2009 Tarerer Festival and St Josephs in Yambuk who
received $7621 to help restore the community hall.
"We're thrilled to be able to support so many great projects
that will support community activities across the Codrington and
Yambuk region", said General Manager Australia/Pacific, Mr Lane
Crockett.
"We always receive more applications than we can fund, and short
listing is never an easy process; however we aim to provide funding
to identified community priorities."
"I'd like to thank the Moyne Shire Council and community members
who helped finalise the applications," added Mr Crockett.
The Sustainable Communities Fund runs annually for the life of
the Codrington and Yambuk Wind Farms and has already injected
$230,000 into 48 community groups working in the local area.
