Public information sessions for proposed Yaloak Sth wind farm; community invited to drop in and find out the facts

Leading Australian renewable energy company Pacific Hydro will hold public information sessions to inform the local community about the new Yaloak South wind farm proposal.

The informal sessions will be held between 3 and 7pm on September 1st at the Ballan RSL, the 2nd at Rowsley Hall and the 3rd at the Mt Wallace Hall; Pacific Hydro encouraged the community to drop by to find out the facts about the redesigned project.

"Pacific Hydro's new Yaloak south wind farm is significantly different from the original proposal from four years ago and we want to ensure the community has correct details about the new project", said Pacific Hydro Executive Manager Government and Corporate Affairs, Andrew Richards.

"The new 14-generator design is the result of many years of study and consideration of the community and Panel's comments; it is not an attempt to build the original project in stages."

Since the original project was refused in 2004, Pacific Hydro has conducted new studies into the Wedge-tailed Eagles focusing on the population size, their use of the site and their age. This information helped to inform the completely redesigned project to minimise any potential impact on them, as well as respond to community concerns about visual amenity from the Parwan Valley.

"This new proposal has a significant reduction in generator numbers from 70 to 14 as well as a number of other design changes that have been implemented to reduce the visual impact from the Parwan Valley and the potential impact on Wedge-tailed Eagles", Mr Richards said.

Pacific Hydro will hold three public information sessions in early September and encouraged those interested in
learning the facts about the new proposal to drop by. Representatives from Pacific Hydro will be available to assist with questions.

"We hope that these sessions will provide a convenient forum for the community to find out accurate details about
the new proposal", added Mr Richards. "The information sessions are informal in nature and designed so that community members can drop at any time between 3 and 7pm when it suits them."

Community members who are unable to attend one of the information sessions are encouraged to contact Pacific Hydro via enquiries@pacifichydro.com.au or phone 03 8621 6440 so alternative information can be supplied.
