Time running out to apply to Codrington/Yambuk Sustainable Communities Fund
Don't miss out on your chance to share in Pacific Hydro's
$50,000 Codrington/Yambuk Sustainable Communities Fund.
"With a few days to go, time is running out to get your application
in", said Executive Manager, Government and Corporate Affairs
Mr Andrew Richards.
Community Development and Enterprise Projects Supervisor at Brophy
Youth and Family Services Lyn Eales encouraged community
groups to apply following their success in 2008. "Pacific Hydro's
funds helped the Tarerer Gunditj Project Association run the
Tarerer Festival which is a celebration of Indigenous culture
through music, art and dance", said Ms Eales.
Explaining, "The Festival increases the profile of local Indigenous
issues, helps to provide further understanding and acceptance
within the local community as well as providing a platform for the
development of programs beyond the festival that address
cultural and environmental concerns."
"The application form is easy to complete and I would encourage all
community groups who need funding to apply."
Pacific Hydro's Sustainable Communities Fund is available to all
community groups and organisations operating in Codrington,
Yambuk, Port Fairy and close surrounds.
The program provides a $50,000 pool of funding to community groups
who are working to make a positive and lasting contribution to
their community and the Fund is available for the operating life of
Pacific Hydro's Codrington and Yambuk
wind farms.
Mr Richards explained, "Our aim is to fund projects that are
community priorities; however groups need to get
an application in by 5pm Monday August 31 to be eligible for
consideration."
The Codrington/Yambuk Sustainable Communities Fund will consider
projects across the areas of Sport, Health, Education,
Environment and the Arts.
Community groups who have not applied for funding in previous years
are encouraged to apply.
"If you are unsure if your project is eligible, or how to apply for
funding, give us a call", said Mr Richards.
