"The extra funds have seen a greater number of organisations receive funding than in previous years and we are proud to be able to support so many excellent projects" said Mr Lane Crockett, General Manager, Australia/Pacific.

Funds were distributed to a range of organisations including Loaves and Fishes who will purchase a cold storage room to allow distribution of fresh food to disadvantaged families in the area, Kyeema Support Services for their respite and training project and the Portland Cycling Club for training equipment as part of the Club's development program.

Pacific Hydro received 45 applications from local community groups requesting funds for projects totalling around $300,000.

"We congratulate the community groups who have received funding and thank the Council and other funding bodies for the support and help in the short listing process" said Mr Crockett.

"While not all applicants received funding, allocations will support important community initiatives and well-regarded, social, cultural, environmental, educational and sporting programs. "

Applicants who missed out in this funding round are encouraged to apply in future years.

The Portland Sustainable Communities Fund supports community activities taking place within local areas surrounding the wind farm. The Fund covers environmental, health, sporting, cultural and educational projects and is available for the life of the wind farm's operation.
