30MW Yaloak South wind farm planning application lodged
30MW Yaloak South wind farm planning application lodged
Pacific Hydro has lodged its planning application with the
Moorabool Shire Council for the Yaloak South wind farm. The
application seeks approval for a wind farm with a maximum of 14
wind generators and a capacity of under 30MW.
The proposed Yaloak South Wind Farm is located approximately
14km south of Ballan on private farmland known as Yaloak
Estate.
"Pacific Hydro is very positive about the Yaloak South Wind Farm
proposal", said Pacific Hydro Government and Corporate Affairs
manager, Andrew Richards.
"While this is a relatively small project it has a quality wind
resource which is expected to produce enough emission free
electricity to power the equivalent of around 18,000 Victorian
homes each year, abating approximately 100,000 tonnes of greenhouse
gas annually."
Pacific Hydro has conducted community consultation on the
project which has included local community organisations, Council,
and other statutory bodies as well as the local community.
"We had a good round of public consultation last year where a
range of views were expressed. We are confident we have a good
project which has support in the local community", added Mr
Richards.
In the coming weeks the Moorabool Shire Council is expected to
commence public notification for the application and advise how the
community can make submissions.
In the meantime, the application has been made available for
download on Pacific Hydro's website under the Yaloak South Wind
Farm project page - visit www.pacifichydro.com.au
