Clements Gap Sustainable Communities Fund Recipients announced
Leading Australian renewable energy
company, Pacific Hydro has formally acknowledged the recipients of
the inaugural Clements Gap Sustainable Communities Fund in a
ceremony at the Crystal Brook Football Club.
"We congratulate the 16 local groups
who have been successful in this inaugural round of funding;
together they will share a pool of $50,000", said Pacific Hydro
General Manager, Australia/Pacific Mr Lane Crockett.
Pacific Hydro received 43 applications
from local community groups requesting funds for projects totalling
around $250,000 making short-listing very difficult. Applications
came from a wide variety of organisations; however the largest
number came from sporting clubs.
Mr Crockett explained the challenges of
selecting the recipients "With so many fantastic organisations
doing important work within the community it is never easy to
short-list applications."
"Applications are matched with the Fund
guidelines and reviewed in consultation with local Councils,
Development Boards, other funding bodies and some community
members. This ensures Pacific Hydro is aware of identified
community priorities", explained Mr Crockett.
"Many of the applications received were
of a high quality. We received a large number of sporting related
applications and as well as health and safety related projects and
we are delighted to be able to fund a number of these
projects."
"I would like to thank the local
Councils, Development Boards and community members for their
support and guidance during the review and short listing process",
said Mr Crockett.
While not all applicants received
funding, allocations will support important community initiatives
and wellregarded, social, cultural, educational and sporting
programs.
Applicants who missed out in this
funding round are encouraged to apply in future years.
The Clements Gap Sustainable
Communities Fund supports community activities taking place within
local areas surrounding the wind farm. The Fund covers
environmental, sporting, cultural and educational projects and is
available for the life of the wind farm's operation.
