Sustainable Communities Fund boosted to $90,000
Pacific Hydro's Sustainable Communities
Fund for the Portland/Cape Bridgewater community opens today
(15/4/2009) and, with the inclusion of the Cape Nelson
South Wind Farm this year, has a pool of $90,000 available to
community groups and organisations working in the local area "With
the third stage of the Portland Wind Energy Project at Cape Nelson
South going though its final stage of commissioning, we're thrilled
to be able to boost the Fund with an extra $40,000 this year", said
Executive Manager, Government and Corporate Affairs, Andrew
Richards.
"This extra funding added to the pool
already available will provide more opportunities for community
groups to have their projects funded."
Now in its third year, The
Portland/Cape Bridgewater Sustainable Communities Fund has already
injected $100,000 into 25 community groups and organisations in the
local area.
"In just two years we've seen some
fantastic projects funded", added Mr Richards.
"Groups including the Portland Toy
Library, Friends of the Great South West Walk, The Bridgewater
Lakes Aquatic Club and the Portland Bowling Club have all received
grants to support their projects."
The Fund is accepting applications
between 15 April and 25 May 2009 and is available every year for
the life of the Portland Wind Energy Project. Pacific Hydro's
Sustainable Communities Fund aims to support local community groups
who are working to make a positive and lasting contribution to
their community.
