Superintendent - Electrical Works - Chile
Office Location: Cachapoal Valley (Rancagua)
Reports To: Construction Manager
1. PURPOSE
Construction management and contractor oversight for the
construction of all the electrical works, including construction
power transmission lines, modifications to Coya and Pangal
substations, modifications to existing transmission lines, EPC
contractor's electrical distribution system, installation of
permanent electrical equipment , etc for the Chacayes project, for
the delivery on time and within budget.
2. KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESULT AREAS
- Manage the infrastructure and EPC contractors to ensure that
the construction is completed on time, on budget and to the
required quality standards.
- Supervision of acceptance of works, and follow up with the
contractors on clearance of deficiencies and resolution of defects
during the warranty period
- Assist in the recruitment, training and management of
inspection staff to oversee the activities of the contractors.
- Participation in and chairing (as an alternate to the
construction manager) of weekly progress meetings to review and
check the safety, quality and progress of the works and to ensure
that construction issues are identified, resolutions identified and
communicated to all concerned parties.
- Liaison with design office and consultants to review of designs
submitted by contractors, ensuring that contractors are meeting all
the technical requirements specified in the contract documents.
Implement and document field changes.
- Manage progress, ensuring that the contractors apply the
appropriate levels of resources to meet the schedule and recoup and
slippages
- Implement contract management procedures that ensure the
compliance of the contractors with all terms of the contract and
provide documentation for the refutation of claims, etc.
- Review and recommend approval of progress payments to
contractors.
- Assist in preparing monthly progress reports to senior Chile
and Australian management
- Maintain working relationships with subordinates, Chile
Executive Management, external consultants, advisors, regulatory
authorities, landowners, and local communities.
- Review contractor's work procedures and his compliance of the
same.
- Participate in discussions, evaluations and negotiations of
Construction claims.
- The ability to prove and apply technologies in a commercial
innovative way and a solid understanding and application of project
economics for solution oriented engineering results.
Knowledge and Experience (including qualifications):
Tertiary qualification in a technical Engineering discipline.
A proven track record and in depth experience in the
construction and management of large scale infrastructure projects
either in the water resources or hydroelectric power sector. 15 -
20 years experience in design and/or construction of such
projects.
Knowledge and computer fluency in standard software packages
such as Excel, Word, Project, etc.
