Community members invited to help allocate $50,000 Sustainable Communities Fund

Pacific Hydro invites community members living in Clements Gap, Mundoora, Port Broughton, Redhill, Crystal Brook and Wandearah to help allocate the $50,000 Clements Gap Sustainable Communities Fund by nominating for a position on the Fund Allocation Panel. Nominations open today (6 Feb) and close 1 March.
“The Fund Allocation Panel has been implemented to further community involvement in allocating funding as well as increasing the transparency of the program. We invite community members to nominate for one of the four positions available on the Panel,” said Pacific Hydro’s General Manager for Australia, Mr Lane Crockett.
Nominations for a position on the Fund Allocation Panel must be received by 1 March.
“This is an exciting opportunity for the community to take more ownership of the shortlisting process. We look forward to working more closely with the community in this way,” said Mr Crockett.
The Fund Allocation Panel for 2013 will include 11 people made up from the community, Pacific Hydro and Council, as follows:
- Four self-nominated community members,
- One Council staff member from Port Pirie Regional Council and one Council staff member from the Barunga West Regional Council,
- Clements Gap Wind Farm Supervisor – Andrew Goulding,
- Three self-nominated staff members from Pacific Hydro, and
- Pacific Hydro’s Community Engagement Coordinator, Chloe Carpenter, who will facilitate the panel but will not have voting rights (other than in exceptional circumstances).
All self-nominated panel members from the Community and Pacific Hydro will sit for one year only to provide an opportunity for a range of people to be involved. Nominations for positions on the Panel will open each year about one month prior to the Sustainable Community Fund call for applications.
Pacific Hydro hopes to see nominations from a cross section of the community representing the main areas eligible for funding, as well as those community members who have significant knowledge of the area and the needs of the community.
