Perenia

Pacific Hydro in new carbon Joint Venture with leading Australian engineering consulting firm

Two of Australia’s leading greenhouse gas emission reduction project developers and consultants, Pacific Hydro and SMEC (Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation), have joined forces to create a carbon services Joint Venture called Perenia.

About Perenia

Perenia offers a complete carbon service providing expertise throughout the project development and carbon credit creation and commercialisation value chain. It will assist developers of emission reduction projects in developing countries create and sell carbon credits under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol. The business will focus on renewable energy and low emission generation, waste management, energy distribution and energy-demand projects in India and Brazil.

The Perenia edge

Perenia differs significantly from most of its competitors. The business is focused on working closely with developers throughout the project life-cycle, assisting in identifying and optimising emission reduction project development and CDM registration opportunities.

Perenia will use its proprietary tool Project Screen, developed and refined through the partners combined 50 years experience in identifying, designing, and operating emission reduction projects, to assess each project concept for development, registration and carbon-credit delivery risk.

By identifying and managing potential issues, not only do project developers have the confidence of an increased likelihood of CDM registration, but buyers can be confident that screened projects will deliver the carbon credits they’ve committed to purchase.
